An Honest Scandal Perfume Review – By Jean Paul Gaultier

Welcome to my Scandal perfume review!

With a very interesting and attention-catching commercial, Jean Paul Gaultier invested a lot of effort into this perfume. But does it really make a scandal in a crowd? We’ll answer this question in this scandal perfume review!

Released in 2017, Scandal is still a very popular fragrance of Jean Paul Gaultier especially if you are interested in honey perfumes.

Scandal has a very unique scent, with a combination which I particularly never found in another perfume. It´s characterized by a very sweet honey note, with white flowers, caramel and patchouli blend of ingredients. This mix of notes makes the fragrance very sweet with a sugary aspect from the honey and caramel. That makes the fragrance one of the best honey perfumes you can find on the market.

In this Scandal perfume review, I’ll try to explain in the best and most detailed way possible the main aspects of the perfume. This includes its scent, fragrance evolution, longevity, projection, versatility, and price. Join me on this journey and enjoy the reading!

Scent

Scent8.5

Scandal perfume is well-known in the perfumery world to be almost the only one with a combination of caramel and honey. Consequently, the fragrance is considered a sweet honey perfume, with the main notes of:

  • Top Notes: Mandarin Orange and Blood Orange
  • Middle Notes: Honey, White Flowers, and Peach
  • Base Notes: Beeswax, Caramel, and Patchouli

First, the fragrance evolution starts with a burst of sweet oranges, creating a fruity impression of the perfume. After a few seconds, the scent begins to get sweet and floral aspects with the join of white flowers and honey notes, giving the perfume a very feminine and sweet aspect. Last, The notes of caramel and beeswax take place and the perfume settles down with a sugary smell.

It´s a nice scent and a very sweet perfume for sure, being crafted for those who appreciate sugary and floral perfumes. If you are interested and like fragrances with this aspect, I consider this one a must-try for you!

Longevity

Scent8.5

As promised in the commercial, Scandal has good longevity under most women’s skin, lingering on the skin for around 10 – 12 hours. However, it´s not uncommon to see the scent disappearing after only 8 hours, showing that longevity is relative.

It´s important to acknowledge that the longevity of any fragrance is closely linked to individual skin chemistry. Therefore, results may vary from. We highly recommend purchasing a decant or a travel bottle size or even testing it and experiencing the performance on your skin.

Projection

Scandal has also a very good projection, making everyone close and within a short distance from you noticing the caramel-honey scent. Will it make everyone fall for you and get heart attacks as is shown in the commercial? No, but still very powerful tho!

However, it´s important to mention that performance may vary with seasons. The projection has good adaptability to different climates, getting loud during spring and shy during winter.

It´s a perfect fragrance for cooler weather overall, but especially for cold nights during spring. Scandal needs the cold weather so it can’t turn into an annoying scent, with excess sweetness and sugar notes. The weather in spring is not hot nor cold, helping the fragrance reach its best projection.

Versatility

Scent8

Scandal has a good versatility, especially for mild and cold temperatures, being crafted for spring, autumn, and winter. The fragrance adopts 2 different configurations during this season, being the one during spring the most smelling one.

That versatility gives the fragrance a high adaptability for a wide range of occasions such as formal dinners, parties, hangouts with friends, casual parties, night dinners, and romantic dinners.

During winter and autumn, the perfume has a very well-behaved smell, being perfect for formal events at night. This fragrance aspect is crucial for occasions where you can´t be the central attention, but an interesting part of it. Oppositely, during spring the fragrance gets loud and the proposal changes drastically. With the rise of mild temperatures, the scent turns into a head-turner fragrance, being perfect for parties, night dinners, and casual parties. On these occasions, you´ll be the attention for sure!

The only season which I don´t recommend you to use is summer. The warmer temperatures make the fragrance annoying and instead of being a smelling perfume, it becomes a people-repellent.

Price

Scent7

Widely recognized in the perfumery world, Jean Paul Gaultier is a reference in producing smelling and recognized fragrances. But reputation has its prices…

They’re not overpriced perfumes, but they aren’t cheap either. Scandal can be found for something around 75€ – 90€ for the 80ml bottle.

Conclusion

The exaggerated JPG commercial promises a head-turning fragrance, making you the main event of an event. But does that really happen?

With a distinct blend of notes of mandarin orange, blood orange, honey, white flowers, peach, beeswax, caramel, and patchouli Scandal is considered a sweet honey fragrance, perfect for a wide range of occasions.

Its versatility is the key to understanding the fragrance’s true power. During winter and autumn, the fragrance adopts a soft side, being more usable for casual occasions or romantic dinners if you don´t want to have a yelling smell. But during spring the game changes with the fragrance adopting a strong projection and longevity, being perfect for formal dinners and parties. Basically, it makes you a scandal in the place!

To conclude our Scandal perfume review, I´ll give it an Overall Rating of: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(8/10)
